Welcome to
Serengeti Rifles builds several lines of rifles; the KODIAK™, the TIGERCAT™, the ARTEMIS™, the AFRICAN™, the MONTANAN™, the RED MIST™, and the WALKABOUT™, all available in a number of stock geometries. We test fire our rifles using factory ammunition with the expectation they will shoot 1 MOA or better. If they don't we find out why and rectify the problem. Test targets are shipped with the rifle.
The KODIAK™ Rifle
Tried and true classic design, but with a bit of flair. Especially suitable for a large or medium bore and/or dangerous game rifles. Full grip, somewhat less open than Merlin or Leopard designs, with a bit of flair near the cap and substantial but not obtrusive palm swell. Drop at the heel is tunable to the shooter and typically measures from ½ inch to ¾ inch below centerline of the bore. More or less is possible. Full forearm and butt for taming heavy recoiling calibers. Plenty of room in each for mercury suppressors. Typical response from those who mount a KODIAK™ is: "Perfect."
The TIGERCAT™ Rifle
Like its namesake, a TIGERCAT™ Rifle is about the smallest, lightest, slimmest wood-stocked custom rifle possible. Very few actions will fit in this slender geometry, but the Kimber 84M is certainly one of the most functional. Controlled round feed, 3-position safety, all steel construction - but without a lot of mass. With cartridges from 250 Savage up to the new 338 Federal, this five and half pound (typical) rifle offers a lot of flexibility. Trim, open grip. Classic lines in the comb with very little drop. Four down in the magazine. Twenty-two inch barrel. Ultra-light ring base from Talley. Ron Spomer said it best in Sporting Classics Magazine: "If you've been dreaming of the perfect blend of beauty and performance, a Serengeti Rifle might be your match."
The ARTEMIS™ Rifle
Goddess of the hunt. Ever notice how a woman contorts when she gets behind a rifle with a stock designed for a man? Head scrunched down, and bent over the comb. Hand forward on the grip and pressing the trigger somewhat sideways? And how they are not so fond of shooting if the rifle has any measurable recoil? ARTEMIS™ incorporates some ideas from the shotgun world, where women designers made changes to accommodate women shooters. Get the toe out - a lot. And some cast off in the butt. Phew! Now it won't hurt so much. Lift the comb for a longer, more slender neck. Now the butt pad fits into the shoulder rather than resting darn near on top of it. Move the grip forward so a trigger finger from a smaller hand can apply consistent pressure on let-off. Only after all of the above is addressed is it time to consider length of pull. Finally, Serekote finish offers lots of unique colors for the metalwork. No matter what cartridge she's considering, ARTEMIS™ will dramatically improve the fit. Kind of like having your cake and eating it too!
The AFRICAN™ Rifle
When we formed Serengeti Rifles, we envisioned building a concept rifle - a firearm that would be an expression of the ultimate in reliability. Careful consideration was given to chamberings, materials, and design. We wanted to provide value as well - meaning a lot of rifle for the money. The AFRICAN™ is a working rifle that will be at home in the harshest climates, the most demanding usage. All aspects of its construction focus on delivering the goods when the hunt is on the line.
The MONTANAN™ Rifle
After indulging ourselves in the design of the AFRICAN™, we decided we needed another line of rifles where the customer could express his desires, should they be different than ours. The MONTANAN™ is a full custom rifle where anything goes. Any bore and chambering that can be safely incorporated in our stocking solutions is open to discussion. Consider this rifle for incorporating your own unique and novel ideas.
The RED MIST™ Rifle
Varmint hunters know what we mean. The goal: build a light caliber rifle for a distance where less than a quarter mile is considered “close-in”. Long stainless tubes, fluted or not. A variety of stock shapes and cartridges. Based on the M1999 short action in right or left hand.
The WALKABOUT™ Rifle
Sometimes less is more. Whether your “walkabout” includes a lot of up and down, or miles of prairie stalking, sometimes you want less on your shoulder. M1999 short actions, LH or RH, Chrome-moly or Stainless, Featherweight contour stainless tubes, slim ACRA-bond stocks. About seven pounds, or less, depending on caliber.
