Walkabout – when less is more.  Not exactly a light rifle, but perhaps “concise” is a better word.  No long magnums here.  And few short ones.  We’d like to keep the weight in the area of seven pounds or less and thick heavy barrels aren’t the answer.

There are a lot of great cartridges out there, just waiting to be wrapped in a big game or varmint rifle that will spend more time on your shoulder than in the back of a truck.  The ideal solution might be to use a twenty-two inch featherweight or short-shank barrel profile, a short action, and a slim, light stock geometry.  Keep it short, trim and…well, concise.  Take a Walkabout on your walkabout.
