The Serengeti African Rifle begins with a refined MRC M1999 action we call the Serengeti Action.  The receiver is ground and polished above and below the stockline for precise lines and superior cosmetics.  The ejection port, feed ramp and locking lug cams are polished.  Raceways and bolt lugs receive similar attention.  The bottom metal is polished and the bolt body jeweled.  The trigger is ground for a creep-free release and set at 3lb. (4lb. in the DGR).  The action is engraved with our logo and then stocked in a high-grade ACRA-Bond laminate.

Every potential area for mechanical failure has received attention.  Weak 6-48 base mount screws are replaced by 8-40 screws; eight times more rugged.  Talley rings and matching bases assure a reliable mounting system.  NECG masterpiece iron sights present a superb backup in the event of optics failure.

The action and all internal parts are coated with a licensed polymer finish of exceptional durability and corrosion resistance.  The barrel is hand-lapped, stainless, match-grade, and coated to match the receiver.  All barreled actions are glass-bedded.  Magnums receive crossbolts.  .375 and up have an extra barrel-mounted recoil lug installed.  Dangerous game rifles have barrel bands.  All Serengeti rifles are stocked in AAA-grade or better ACRAbond process laminated stocks.

African Rifles are chambered only in cartridges of proven reliability in the field.  Proper feeding, superior interior & exterior ballistics, proper extraction and ejection are the goals in every rifle we make.  African Rifles are offered in the following chamberings:

25-06, 270 Win, 30-06, 338-06, 270 Wby, 300 Win,
300 Wby, 338 Win, 375 H&H, 416 Rem, 416 Rigby, 458 Lott

All Serengeti Rifles are test fired to assure optimum performance with factory loads.  Targets shipped with the rifle.  Load development service is available.

African Rifles are available in several stock geometries.  From the lightest, most slender design to the most robust full-sized design, they are:

Cheetah - Often as light as 20 oz, this geometry features a slim open grip and slender Schnabel forend.  Slimline, shadowline or continental cheekpiece.   Capable of cartridges up to 375 H&H.

Leopard - Somewhat heavier in dimension than the Cheetah, but with similar lines except no Schnabel.  Weight is approximately 28 oz.  Slimline, shadowline, or continental cheekpiece.  For cartridges up to 416 Remington.

Merlin - A full-sized Classic-style stock.  Typically weighs 32-36 oz.  Open grip, full-sized forend. Slimline cheekpiece, with or without shadowline.  For all chamberings except 416 Rigby.

Serengeti Hunter - A full-sized geometry based on a popular Finnish rifle.  Palm swells, Monte Carlo with or without both shadowline and rollover.  For all chamberings except 416 Rigby.

Lioness - A full-sized Classic-style stock with more drop at the heel where iron sights assume a priority.  Heavier, slightly more closed grip than Merlin.  Heavier forend than Merlin.  Continental cheekpiece, with or without shadowline.  For all chamberings except 416 Rigby.

Rhino - A geometry intended for the larger calibers, including the 416 Rigby.  Available for both the CZ550 Safari action and a specially modified M1999 with a drop-box magazine.

Mannlicher Style Stock - We can also incorporate the Mannlicher style into any stock geometry on any of our African, Montanan, Walkabout, and Red Mist rifles.  See the Price List page for current pricing.
